What is the current drawn by heating of the sensor? During ‘normal’ operation does the heating of the sensor stop? The power wire for the heating circuit seems of small diameter.
Heater current is 3 Amp max and ~1 Amp during normal operation. All the wires in the cable are the same diameter.
Great, thanks for that. Does that mean the entire time the car is being driven 1 Amp is being drawn through the heater circuit, or does it stop when the exhaust temperature is at a high enough value?
The sensor is under closed-loop control by the wideband controller to maintain the sensor @ 780C. If the sensor is too hot, the wideband will apply no power to the sensor heater. In the average install, on the average car, during average driving conditions, the heater current is ~1 Amp.
Perfect, thanks for the explanation, much appreciated
