I was planning to use a Spartan V3 lite on a Porsche 944 Turbo with a Speeduino ECU. The OEM NB Sensor is located pre-turbo on the crossover pipe. Because of this, I’m tempted to instead use the new shielded LSU ADV pre-turbo sensor (PN: 0258.027.010, I think) which would allow a direct swap. Granted this sensor is about $150 more than the standard ADV, but will save me paying a shop to weld on a new bung behind the cat for a 4.9 or standard ADV, which can easily cost me that much in Norcal. I’m also assuming it gives me faster response just by virtue of being further upstream.
That said, I’m a total novice. This is my first standalone ECU, and I’ve heard O2 sensors can be fragile if not set up properly/carefully. I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with a pre-turbo setup?
edit: found the pre-turbo part for $100 (assuming FCP Euro’s cross-reference of Bosch 17365 is correct) so no cost difference. Seems like it’s worth a shot to just see how it goes.
